Quality Assurance Coordinator

Position Objective

Coordinate and maintain the quality management system, ensure regulatory compliance, and support production and laboratory operations to guarantee product quality, food safety, and customer satisfaction.

Required Education, Skills, and Experience
  • College diploma (DEC) or Bachelor’s degree in Food Science and Technology, Dietetics, or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in quality assurance within the food industry.
  • Strong knowledge of HACCP principles and SQF standards.
  • Knowledge of CFIA and Health Canada regulations and requirements.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent priority management and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Fluency in both French and English.
  • Experience in the meat industry is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to coordinate quality-related activities.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across departments, including production, laboratory, and management teams.
  • Professional rigor, attention to detail, and analytical thinking.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Self-motivated with strong initiative and autonomy.
  • Team-oriented with a proactive, solution-driven approach.
Responsibilities - Quality System Management
  • Maintain and standardize the quality management system, including SOPs, procedures, and traceability programs.
  • Conduct regulatory compliance audits and ensure adherence to current standards and regulations.
  • Manage non-conformities, perform root cause analyses, and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Support clients during SQF audits by providing required documentation and information.
  • Investigate, analyze, and respond to customer and supplier complaints.
  • Carry out monitoring and verification activities as defined in the quality program and maintain document control systems.
Responsibilities - Quality Activity Coordination
  • Coordinate laboratory operations, including preparation of control sheets, management of retain samples, and scheduling of technicians.
  • Communicate daily operational issues, identified non-conformities, and required corrective actions to the planning team.
  • Provide support to production and quality control teams during production or recipe-related issues.
  • Provide backup support for quality control technicians when required.
Responsibilities — Analysis Follow-Up and Compliance
  • Evaluate and approve new raw materials in accordance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct sensory evaluations for selected recipes and products.
  • Verify packaging materials and coordinate shelf-life and allergen testing with external laboratories.
  • Monitor and follow up on external laboratory analyses and results.
  • Submit Certificates of Analysis (COAs) to clients.
  • Coordinate environmental sampling and monitoring programs.
